Viral cases settle with rest and fluids. Streptococcal tonsillitis needs a proper antibiotic course. We avoid unnecessary medicines and watch for dehydration in small children.

A child who refuses even sips can become dry within a day.
Most are viral. Pus alone does not always mean an antibiotic is required.

We look at the tonsils, neck nodes, rash and hydration.
Warm fluids, pain relief and rest — not random antibiotic leftover at home.
Stopping early invites a return of fever and, rarely, complications.
We advise when the child is no longer febrile and can swallow comfortably.
We take a full history — onset, feeding, fever, sleep, school and any earlier reports.
Growth, chest, tummy, skin and development are checked. Tests are advised only if they change care.
A clear home plan is given, with a review so we know the child is settling.
Book the same day if the child cannot drink, is drooling, has a stiff neck, or breathing sounds tight.
